How to treat the disease?
Primarily gluccocorticoids, i.g. prednisolon, are used for therapy. But there is yet no precise recommodations concerning dosage and duration of treatment. In many cases a daily dose of 40mg or 0,6mg/kg of prednisolon will be prescribed at the beginning of therapy, which is gradually be reduced over several months. If freedom of symptoms is only achieved by high doses for a long time period, it is important to consider further steroid-sparing therapy.
